What is Alpha?
Alpha is a series of group conversations that freely explore the basics of the Christian faith in an open, friendly environment. Everyone's welcome. No matter your background or beliefs, you're invited. Looking to try Alpha? St James' can help..........
How it started?
Alpha started in 1977 at Holy Trinity Brompton London. In 1990 Nicky Gumbel repositioned Alpha as a course for people outside of the church to explore the Christian faith through a serious of talks and through conversation with others.
How it's going?
Alpha now runs all across the world. Millions of people have experienced Alpha in over 100 countries and over 100 languages around the globe.....
St James' and Alpha
We run 2 Alpha courses each year - during Spring and Autumn terms. These happen 7 - 9pm on a weekday night (1 session per week for 11 weeks).
We start with social time and eat food and or refreshments, then watch a 25 minute video clip before sharing our views or doubts and having the opportunity to ask each other questions.
This is a great way to learn more about Christianity whilst also making friends.
