Hello - Welcome Home

St James' Church, Brownhills Welcomes You..

We're passionate about worshipping God, learning together, celebrating one another, and sharing Jesus through our words and actions to serve and be present within the communities of Brownhills & Clayhanger.

At St James' we enjoy worshipping God using mostly contemporary & modern worship songs, plus some traditional hymns at some of our services, depending on what the service type is.  We have groups or activities for our children and young people every Sunday, and have mid-week Life Groups for our adults that are all about enabling our members to apply faith to life whilst forming friendships and growing as church family.

We are also learning more about one another's differences so that we can celebrate what it means to be 'church' - each unique yet one in Jesus.  Finally, we are seeking to grow in sharing Jesus in an easy-going way with others through our conversations, alongside spontaneous and planned acts of loving service and kindness to the communities of Brownhills and Clayhanger.

St James' Church Building

St James' Church was built in 1850-51, and since then has continued to serve Brownhills and Clayhanger by providing a place for a community of Christians and seekers to worship right at the heart of Brownhills, bounded by Walsall, Lichfield and Cannock.

It was designed to represent a cross,

in the early decorated style, with a chancel and nave, without aisles, terminated at the west end by a handsome bell turret, crowned by a small spire that has a cross inscribed on it near the top.

The Parish was originally called 'Ogley Hay' but was changed to 'Brownhills with Ogley Hay' to reflect the growth of the town.  In addition, Clayhanger became part of the Parish in the 1990s.

Here and now today, St James' still stands as a sign of God's Presence, where all who are open to Him can experience His amazing love, joy and peace that is not like anything that the world can give.
